Falling Leaves | Lace Leaf Sweater Knitting Pattern

$18.00

Falling Leaves is the thinking knitter’s romance: a sophisticated interplay of geometric lace and tailored A-line shaping that feels as intentional as it does elegant.

Are you longing to create a sweater that infuses your everyday with a touch of romance and elegance, without ever compromising on that cherished comfort? The Falling Leaves sweater pattern is designed to be just that – a timeless, versatile knit that elevates your wardrobe and brings you joy every time you wear it.

This classic DK lace leaf sweater is brimming with vintage-inspired details that whisper sophisticated charm. Picture the delicate leaf diamond pattern flowing across the body, complemented by a cozy moss stitch yoke, square neckline, and gently ballooning sleeves.  Falling Leaves is a piece of wearable art that you’ll create with your own hands, fostering that deep sense of pride and accomplishment.

The symmetry of the lace pattern settles into a rhythm that’s easy to memorise and read visually, making this a project with enough interest to keep you focused, but with the purled wrong-side rows giving your brain a much-needed break.  The alternating structure provides a stimulating ‘focus row’ of lace followed by a ‘meditative row’ of purling, offering a balanced rhythm that moves quickly.  Falling Leaves is for the knitter who enjoys the ‘flow state’ of lace but demands a garment that performs like a modern staple. It’s a showcase of your ability to handle delicate textures without sacrificing structural integrity.

If you’re like me, you desire clothing that makes you feel both put-together and utterly at ease.  The Falling Leaves sweater is designed for this perfect balance. Its subtle A-line shaping – you can also add some subtle gathered dart shaping beneath the textured yoke if you need it – and thoughtful A-line construction ensure a flattering fit that moves with you, never feeling restrictive.  There’ll be absolutely no riding or bunching up as you sit down to have lunch or type at your desk.

Falling Leaves is the ideal piece to bring a little romance to the everyday, making you feel brighter and ready to receive compliments, whether you’re heading to the office or enjoying a casual day out with your family.  Jeans and classic trousers will be given a lift by the square neckline and lace pattern, ideal for those days when you’re not doing anything special but have a spring in your step nonetheless.

This sweater is wonderfully versatile for all seasons. Knit it in a crisp cotton for a breezy spring look, or choose a cozy 100% wool for elegant warmth in colder months. It’s incredibly easy to style with your favorite jeans, tailored trousers, casual shorts, or even over a dress, making it a true workhorse in your wardrobe.  The precision of the mitred square neckline — achieved through central double decreases — provides a crisp, professional frame for the face that sets this apart from standard lace pullovers.

Description

Are you looking for a vintage-inspired, classic lace leaf sweater knitting pattern in DK yarn?  If so, Falling Leaves has plenty of pretty details to please you!  These include a square neckline, moss stitch yoke, and balloon sleeves.

The slight A-line shaping makes this sweater easy to style.  Falling Leaves works especially well with jeans, trousers, shorts or pants.  It is a longer alternative to the Bonnie sweater.

Sometimes your trusty blue jeans or old faithful trousers need a bit of a lift – or you wake up feeling like the day’s a little bit brighter than usual.  That’s why I designed Falling Leaves.  It’s for those days when stocking stitch is too boring to wear, but you don’t want to compromise on comfort.  It’s a twinkle in your (and everyone else’s) eye – and compliments in your ear.

A lace leaf knitting pattern for all seasons

Although inspired by autumn colour and texture, Falling Leaves works beautifully as a summer lace sweater.  Choose a light-coloured yarn to complement the warmer season’s flowers and blue skies.

The sample was knitted in a wool blend, but you can turn Falling Leaves into Spring Leaves by opting for a crisp cotton.  Alternatively, choose a 100% wool yarn for extra snuggle during the colder months.  The lace leaf diamond stitch pattern will look beautiful in a wide range of yarns and fibres.

Falling Leaves is available in 12 sizes.  Please see the specification drawing and measurement table for further details.

Review of the Falling Leaves sweater from Ravelry: It looks good. I've received compliments, as well as people saying how 'difficult' a knit it looks. OK, not a Beginner knit, even bottom up, with wool, but if you pay attention, I didn't find it THAT difficult.
