If you take a chance on only one knitted wrap cardigan, let it be Aneeta.  She’s one of my bestselling patterns for a reason, and you call the shots on the styling.  Dress her up any way you like, secure in the knowledge that The Ladies will stay put and stay warm.

Description

Aneeta is an all-seasons wrap cardigan pattern in a classic lace rib.  You can wear it as a summer cardigan by using cotton or cotton blend yarns.  On the other hand, knit it in wool yarn for a stylish winter cover-up.  You’ll also find the 2-row lace repeat easy to memorise!

You will achieve a good fit thanks to the optional waist darts and bust shaping increases.  This also means there will be NO gaping at the bust!  I have modelled the Aneeta cardigan with an inch or two of positive ease, but you can change the fit depending on your style preferences.

The straight sleeve and loose-fitting cuff make Aneeta an easy layering piece.   Sleeved and sleeveless garments are comfortable to wear with this lace knitted cardigan.  Long sleeves won’t crumple in winter, and your arms will enjoy ventilation in summer.

A knitted wrap cardigan that’s secure AND pretty

Variation 1 of Aneeta features mitred shaping worked through the ribbing, which is belly-friendly and will create or emphasise waist definition.
Variation 2 of Aneeta omits this waist shaping; consequently, the ribbing is worked straight for a streamlined shape.
Bust shaping increases are possible with both variations.

Here’s a photo of the darts in action.  This is what you’ll see when you’re knitting the left front with darts and the garment is laid flat:

Please see the schematic and measurements chart for further details on sizing.

Special techniques include:

  • lace increases and decreases (yo, ssk, k2tog, sk2po), central double decrease (CDD)
  • ‘make 1’ style increases
  • German short rows

An illustrated modifications document walks you through any bust shaping alterations needed for this lace cardigan pattern.  You’ll also receive more tutorials and styling ideas after purchasing the Aneeta pattern, so keep an eye on your inbox!  You can also email me with questions not covered here or in the follow-up emails.

The sample was knitted in The Fibre Company Luma, shade Chambray.
