One-to-ones and mentoring for knitwear and crochet designers

60-minute sessions online via Zoom

Learn about any aspect of knitwear design that suits you, at a pace that suits you. This is also the page to visit if you’re part of a private design community and would like me to put together a learning package especially for you. Group packages can vary in terms of session length and content.

As with the individual one-to-ones, I can tailor the content to suit you. Just let me know what you need on the enquiry form.

All sessions will be recorded so that you can revisit the material anytime.

How to Design Knitwear course

Live cohort course online via Zoom, 15 months or 120 hours minimum

A rich and comprehensive offering designed to meet the needs of today’s handknit and crochet designers – but machine knitters are also welcome! You’ll be stretched creatively – there are plenty of idea generation exercises – and have all the technical skills you need to bring your ideas to life.

This course covers everything from visual communication and sketching through design development, pattern drafting, and finishing up with pattern grading.

After a successful beta round in 2022-2023, this course will reopen for enrolment in autumn 2024.

60-minute sewing surgery

60 minute sessions, online via Zoom

If you already know how to sew clothes but need more dedicated help with troubleshooting, fitting or garment construction, then my 60-minute sewing surgery can help.

Design and Make Your Own Clothes course

Takes place at Streatham and Brixton Quaker Meeting House, London for at least 10 weeks at a time

An immersive course that teaches you how to design and make your own made-to-measure clothes!

This programme is a fusion of creative pattern cutting and garment construction. Each module covers a different garment type – trousers, skirts, tops, shirts, dresses – and you’ll learn plenty of practical skills.

I created this course especially for sewists who want to design and make clothes that fit them perfectly – and are fed up of constantly fitting themselves whenever they buy a new pattern.

60-minute knitting surgery

My 60-minute knitting surgery is especially for knitters who have experience of making garments but need more dedicated help with fitting and altering patterns to suit their body shape.

If that’s you, welcome! I’d love to help you make knits that fit.

Streatham and Brixton Quaker Meeting House. The venue for Natalie in Stitches classes on learning how to design and make clothes.

Beginners sewing and clothes making courses

In-person at Streatham and Brixton Quaker Meeting House. Minimum 9 hours or three 3-hour classes

Experience a mini sewing retreat in south London. The Quaker meeting house is a quiet and leafy enclave, tucked away behind the south circular. You’d never know you were in travelcard zone 2!

This is the perfect environment to immerse yourself in learning and forget about the pressures of the world for a few hours.

Natalie Warner

I design size- and shape-inclusive knitting patterns for clothes makers who want their garments to fit well. Clothes should serve you, not the other way around. You alter clothes to fit you, not alter yourself to fit the clothes. This is at the heart of everything I do.

I also teach other people how to design clothes, and run two courses: an online knitwear design course, covering everything from illustration to pattern grading, and an in-person clothing design course comprising made-to-measure blocks, creative pattern cutting, and garment construction.
