I teach clothes making and design and beginners sewing classes in my local area, Streatham, which is in south London, U.K.

My Design and Make Your Own Clothes course is for intermediate level and I teach beginners clothes making on a 1:1 basis or in small groups.

My sewing and clothes making classes are held at the Streatham and Brixton Quaker Meeting House, a fully accessible building with excellent transport links.

Design and Make Your Own Clothes

An immersive 10-week course that teaches you how to design and make your own made-to-measure clothes!

This programme is a fusion of creative pattern cutting and garment construction. Each module covers a different garment type – trousers, skirts, tops, shirts, dresses – and you’ll learn plenty of practical skills.

I created this course especially for sewists who want to either design and make clothes professionally, or that fit them perfectly – and are fed up of constantly fitting themselves whenever they buy a new pattern.

Beginners clothes making

Offered on a one-to-one basis or for private groups.

New to sewing clothes, or coming back to it after an extended break?

These project-based courses are designed especially for beginners clothes making. You can treat yourself or get together a group of friends.

Each course is up to 18 hours long and includes all the materials needed for each project.

60-minute sewing surgery

If you already know how to sew clothes but need more dedicated help with troubleshooting, creative pattern cutting, fitting or garment construction, then my 60-minute sewing surgery can help.

This is available via Zoom only. I don’t recommend this option if you’re a beginner or new to clothes making. It’s ideal if you’re stuck and need a fresh pair of eyes, some dedicated help, and support with a project.

You can binge on some of my sewing blogs and pattern reviews here if you like. If you’re a fan of Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, you can see me in action on my Guest Appearances page or on the Channel 4 website. I was a guest judge for the 2021 Stocking and Jumper episodes.

You can also visit this page to find out more about my professional credentials.

In short: I’m not keen on bridal or costume pieces, but enjoy teaching other areas of sewing and pattern cutting. Everyday wardrobe fare is right up my street, including coats and soft tailoring. I do like a coat. Apart from that, I’m very knitty and also teach knitwear design.
