I hope you’re all enjoying your summer so far!

This is a very quick (scheduled) post to share a highlight from February: being a guest speaker inside of Sarah Walworth’s Tech Editor Hub community.

Those who’ve been around for some time may remember that I was a guest on Tech Tip Talk a couple of years ago, interviewed by Sarah Walworth and Kristina McGrath on YouTube. Good things happen when knitting nerds get together, and apparently we just can’t keep away! We talk about knitting patterns, knitwear design, professional practice and the lie of the land.

The lions are back!

That is, the three lions of knitting patterns. I’ve always been upfront about the collaborative nature of quality design work, particularly knitting patterns. Apparel design is not a solo pursuit – not when done well. It’s hard work, but also fun – especially when you’re with kindred spirits.

Being around so many tech editors was an absolute joy. Tech editors do a lot of heavy lifting and I appreciate them so much. This talk was recorded in February 2024, so I can’t remember all the particulars, but I can remember absolutely buzzing afterwards! And that’s what’s important, isn’t it?

As the saying (sort of) goes, “People might forget the words you said, but they won’t forget the way you made them feel.” And apart from enjoying the conversation by itself, I hope you feel inspired. Inspired knowing that there are people dedicated to your enjoyment of knitting and Making Things Work. The patterns, the support, the artistry, the craft; all of it.

Enjoy the rest of August, and I’ll be back with regular blog posts come September 🙂
